The first Maerz kiln on the east coast of Africa

End of November, in Mombasa, Kenya, we celebrated the handover of the successfully commissioned Maerz kiln to our valued customer Mombasa Cement Limited (MCL). This coal-fired Maerz PFR kiln with a capacity of 275 tpd was fired up at the end of October. The performance test was carried out just two weeks later. The kiln met and even exceeded all the required performance parameters.

Mombasa Cement is one of the leading cement manufacturers in East Africa. The company was founded in 2003 as part of the Nyumba Group, which was originally active in steel production and quarrying. Its industrial tradition dates back more than 60 years.

Maerz' new lime plant is located in Vipingo, about 50 kilometres northheast of Mombasa on the coast.

The implementation of its own lime production line is a step into a new technology for MCL. Maerz is proud to be part of this development.

Do you have any suggestions on the topic or want to know more? I look forward to hearing from you.
